We waste 1/3 of produced food every year. That’s 1.3 billion tonnes of food each year globally, yet in 2019 over 135 million people lived in severe hunger. The World Food Programme wants to rebalance the waste-starvation equation by helping people waste a little less every week, and then perhaps waste even less the week after.

Research shows that online shopping decreases the amount of wasted food, while being as convenient as traditional shopping. Recently, we've seen an increase in online shopping caused by the COVID-19 health restrictions therefore convincing people to switch to online shopping will be easier than usual.
